I've always wanted to purchase reusable lunch bags for the kids. I was fed up with the amount of ziplock bags we used and wanted to make a difference environmentally, even if it was in my own little way, one bag at a time.

It's party time

My son’s birthday is just around the corner and to tell you the truth I’m starting to panic. I decided that I wanted to do all the arrangements, planning, decorating and baking myself. Too ambitious do you think? To be honest I think I’m way over my head, but hey it’s a party for 6 year olds, how hard can it be?

What I have so far? The party is going to be outdoors. Lots and lots of balloons. The theme? Well he wants a Jungle party. He is infatuated with animals so that should be easy. I'm planning on creating a fruits and vegetable table since it's in the jungle there won't be any sweets around. That's going to be my excuse if any of the kids think the party is lame because there is no candy. LOL

Ok, I’ll let you in on a little secret. There might be a slight chance that I might call in some help. I’ll see how it goes but if I can predict trouble ahead I’m definitely going to call one of the party planning companies.

I didn’t get a chance to go to the opening of Pottery Barn but couldn’t wait and went the next day. I loved the kid’s store. There is so much to see; I couldn’t decide what to buy so I made a very smart decision. I took a step back and said; today I'm only going to window shop. If I were going to buy anything I would have left with the whole store! lol.

One thing for sure is the customized wall hangers, bags, chairs and towels are going to be a big hit, definitely going to make some for my kids.

One of my favorite stores in Kuwait has to be Zara Home. I get an adrenalin rush when ever I'm there! I love the style of their accessorize, their details, and color schemes, its so me. I passed by yesterday and saw the most adorable baby collection you can imagine. They even have diaper bags. The baby fabrics they use are not babyish at all, light floral pinks for girls and gray, blue hues for boys...just adorable.

Their prices are very reasonable. If you have a baby shower soon or just want to update you kids room then Zara Home is the place to go.

Time for a change

I have never purchased a changing table for any of my kids. Most of the time I use the chest of drawers in the rooms as the changing table. I’m very flexible and can change my kids anywhere. But it is about time someone thought of a round changing table. How cool is this. Time for a change is a brand new company who has patented the round change table, one that obviously has many advantages over your standard changing table. It is round so that it fits into a corner not taking up a wall. With the round shape if your baby rolls over while on the table the baby will still be on the table safely. and the best feature about it is you will always be facing the baby while changing them and will be between their legs instead of the awkward side angle of standard tables.

This is another moment where I say, god why didn’t I think of that! hehehehe

The "Time For A Change" table should be on the market within the year! Watch for it!

First of all I want to make myself clear, I am not promoting this product I’m just curious on finding out if it works or not. I haven't been feeling too well these days. The weather is getting to me. One day its warm then its cold, and now its hot, make up your mind!!
Im not one for taking medication so I always try to make my own flu remedies. One of the best remedies that works wonders is ginger tea.

All you need is:
Ginger
Lemon juice
Honey

First of all get the water boiling and simmer 1-inch of ginger for 15 -20 minutes. Add around 4 tablespoons of lemon and honey to the pot after you are finished simmering the ginger.

Then all you have to do is strain it into your cup and enjoy. The great thing about this is you can refrigerate the extra tea and heat it up again when ever you need it.

Keep in mind that you can play with the amounts of lemon juice and honey depending on your own taste buds ☺

I realize that my son is no longer a baby ( he will always be my baby in my mind), he is growing up to be a fine young boy and as much as I love to do things for him, its time for him to depend on him self. I decided to start a chore chart for him. The chart includes simple tasks such as: Cleaning his room, folding his clothes, making the bed, brushing his teeth, sharing with others, listening to mum and dad and so on. I know that he wont be able to do things perfectly but its just enough for him to build up his confidence. It helps him feel like he is contributing to things round the house. His face lights up when ever he does a chore correctly and gets a nice bright start in front of it. I made a deal with him that when the chart is full of stars he will be getting a surprise so its something for him to look forward to.

It is a great way for children to depend on themselves and I highly recommend you start one.

Here are a few websites that have free printable chore charts, all you have to do is add in the chores depending on the age of your child.
You can also create your own chore chart and turn it in to a fun activity that you can do with your children.

I use different techniques to teach my kids about healthy eating by cooking delicious healthy food that look tasty and appealing to them and also by creating a fun atmosphere at the dinner table. There are all sorts of cookbooks out there that help. One book that I want to talk about is Deceptively Delicious. This book teaches you how to create healthy meals by hiding all the healthiest ingredients. I think it is such a creative way for fussy eaters but is it the right way to go? By doing so aren’t we cheating our children? Shouldn’t they know what foods are good for them and why?

I was checking out hotels in NYC when I came a cross the newly renovated Plaza Hotel. Browsing through their website I came to a sudden halt and I got so excited I wanted to jump up from my desk hahah. What did I see you might be wondering? Let me tell you. A 2100 square foot Eloise retail store!! Eloise was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. Decorated from top to bottom in pink and black, oh how much I want to be there! It will definitely be one of my first stops when traveling to the big apple.

Ok so I must admit that i'm a couch potato, if I could get my way I would lay on the couch all day watching my favorite TV shows or surfing the net but unfortunately that is not possible with 2 kids running around. I get my moment of bliss at 7pm every night. Kids are tucked in bed, its nice and quite and its time to relax and unwind. I’m the kind that loves to get cozy, I always wrap my self in a soft blanket and have a cup of tea/milk so i'm always on the look out for the next best blanket and I think I have found it. I’m the type of person that still saves dates, writes down notes and tracks appointments using the good old fashion way. I still carry around my filofax everywhere I go, even though I have my blackberry and Iphone with me. I just love having post its stuck on every page, highlighted appointments and little ideas that I get written down. Being a mom and at work full time my day gets filled pretty quickly, my filofax has ran out of space so I went and purchase an agenda called momAgenda, oh my god what can I say, I LOVE IT!! "And, you know, something really strange happened to me. Before my pregnancies, I was someone who had to watch their weight. But fabric, not paper, interested her as an origami medium. In Skin, her limited-edition line of stylish, expandable clothing for pregnant women, she applies origami to organic cotton to break the hide-the-bulge mold of most maternity wear. “We want to highlight the belly,” says Rodríguez, now 29 and based in Brooklyn. “This is happiness that is showing through your clothes.” When she found out that her sister in-law is expecting her first baby she decided to design a maternity dress for her. When I first had my baby I went through a paranoia stage where I kept checking on him every 5 minutes, he would never be out of my sight for a second I was always worried that something is bothering him, is he sleeping ok, is he to cold, warm enough or to warm? thoughts would be running through my mind like a crazy woman I seriously had to chill! that’s what I tell myself now looking back at all of it. When they are that small you never know whats wrong with them. They tell you that if your baby starts crying it can be one of three things they are hungry, tired or need their diaper changed. When it’s not one of these problems, it may mean they are uncomfortable and one of these discomforts is being to warm. Now here is where the Babyglow baby suit comes in. The Babyglow baby suit is designed to change color when your baby’s temperature rises to a dangerous level. How genius is that ?? Babyglow is designed and calibrated to change color when the temperature of the body rises over the normal body temperature of 37*C. We are undertaking a personal campaign to raise KD75, 000 to cover the costs of a bone marrow transplant and hospitalisation for Farah, an 11 year old Egyptian girl who was diagnosed with Leukaemia in 2005 and underwent chemotherapy treatment at NBK hospital with a very good chance of making a full recovery. Unfortunately she has had two relapses since then and a bone marrow transplant, which is not available in Kuwait, is now her only chance of survival. To achieve this I am looking for 150 people to each raise KD500 from their families and friends within one week. Monies should be delivered to Cheryl at the KACCH office (to ensure the donations are properly accounted for ) with name and contact details for receipts. I would be very grateful for your support and speedy response because although Farah is currently in remission she could relapse at any time so the window of opportunity is very small, and I believe she deserves this chance to live.

Ministry of Health WAKE UP !!

I always get depressed whenever I go into a government hospital or clinic because of the poor conditions they are in. When you enter them its as if we are in another country, a country that doesn’t have all the privileges that Kuwait has. Today I had to take my son to get his vaccination at Mishref Clinic, a day that I always dread! As we walked in heading to the nurses room, my heart pounding as to the reaction of my son when he finds out its not just a routine check up I stand in shock to what I see in front of me.

Is this a scene you want to see walking in to a clinic? Does this give you the feeling that everything around you is clean and sterile, how a clinic should be. I felt like screaming from the top of my lungs !!! Where is the Ministry of Health, are they allowed to do this ? or do they just think they can get away with it? have all their disposables and waste thrown in the middle of the clinic ?? ☹ how sad is this?!? Im so frustrated and ashamed that people in my country are not educated enough to know that there is a place for waste and it is not in the middle of the clinic !!
